He shook and wailed in pain, hoping that someone would hear his bereaved cries

Someone in northern Minnesota recently heard the sound of a weeping dog in distress, which was not something anybody wanted to hear. However, that is precisely what a kind Samaritan heard. The horrifying noise continued for an extended period of time, prompting the compassionate person to go outdoors and examine the cause. When the individual went to investigate the source of the screams and pleadings, they discovered a little 4-month-old Shepherd mix dog who was in excruciating agony. Following a closer look, it seemed as if the vulnerable animal had been abandoned for many weeks.

The fact that the innocent pup was crying meant he was alive, but barely. The pup, named Baylor, was found in a window well with something wrapped tightly around his abdomen. As the kind person moved closer, that’s when the tie-out cable was found wound tightly around the pup’s abdomen. The cord was embedded into his waist and caused severe trauma to his stomach. Sadly, rescuers believe this evil act was done on purpose.

“Baylor’s mother stood by watching as if to protect him from any further harm,” according to a Facebook post from the Animal Humane Society. “She’d likely been feeding him so he could survive.” Baylor was rushed to a nearby veterinarian who was able to remove the cable. Baylor required urgent specialized care to repair the extensive damage to his growing organs. Unfortunately, as the investigation was launched, the rescue group discovered it wasn’t the first time animal cruelty occurred at the residence where Baylor was found.

Baylor had his lower abdominal skin reattached and his urinary functions restored. Although the surgery is rare, the vets knew what to do, and Baylor survived. He is now recovering in a foster home but has a long road ahead. I Love My Dog hopes by sharing stories like this one, people will speak up and spread the word about the frequency of animal abuse. Together, we can make a difference.
